GREAT LAKES

The Great Lakes. Michigan, being surrounded by the three largest, Michigan, Superior and Huron, has been my home for
all my life.

Did you ever watch the waves rolling in to shore? They take a running start toward the shore, and reach as far as
they can. When losing momentum, they fall back and get ready to try again. An endless cycle of climbing over each other
trying to escape the confines of the body of the lake. But once they do break free from the body and land into their
own pool, they can no longer run to reach back to the body of the lake. There they sit, motionless and quiet, until they
shrink, and finally disappear.

My family and I spent three days after Christmas in Pellston, Michigan, my wifes' parents house. There was
approximately 10" of snow on the ground, and COLD! The Temp was -15 degrees F. with a slight breeze. There was a fogbank
floating along the surface of the lake as the sun came up. It is awesome and a blessing to live in the Great Lakes area!

Here are a few photos from October 24th, 2004. I awoke to a cloudy morning sky, hoping to shoot a lake Huron
sunrise-didn't happen! So I rode around the lake Michigan shoreline back to the hotel in Pellston. I did get a shot of
the Mackinaw Bridge also.

I finally took a ride to the western edge of the northern part of lower michigan, to see lake Michigan. For
the last three years, my wife and I have been going to Pellston to see her parents, I never realized the lake was only
18 miles due west, and the Mackinaw bridge was 17 miles north! This past New Years holiday we spent at her parents
house. We visited the shores of lake Michigan, Wilderness State park, and the bridge.

I'm sure the summers there are just grand, but what an expirence visiting during sub-freezing weather! There wasn't much snow, but extremly cold. Even the seagulls were wearing mittens!

Here are some photos of a magnificent sunset on Jan.4,2004.
