NIGHT SCAPE

Night. The space devoid of the sun. The time spent in the shadow of the earth. The time the moon and stars get their
chance to outshine the sun. The time our milkyway can display her wonders. The sun is too proud and wont be seen with
the likes of those from the dark side (between you and me, the moon, venus and jupiter do slide in during the day,
with the sun unsuspecting).

Autumn appeared just as I finally figured out how to use my digital camera for nighttime photography. I enjoy the
look of the world at night!

Last December (2004), my family and I took a trip up to Pelleston Michigan. We stayed the night in a local motel.
This photo is from early morning. The moon was making a break for the horizon as the sun was coming up. I was on my way
to the sunrise on lake Huron.

My wife and I stayed a night on the beautiful Harsens Island this past Aug. 24th, 2003. What a world! I took a few
shots of the south channel by night, and of the nearby canal.

The night has many secrets to hide. If you photograph nothing in the darkness, something will appear. Stray ambient
light will illuminate any object in the nighttime, and the film will detect it, if the exposure is long enough. Here
are some examples...
