Standing tall as evening falls, brilliantly bright, spectacular sight!
An awesome phenomenon which occurs with or without cirrostratus clouds. All which is required to produce the pillar
is floating hexagonal ice crystals, and a low lying sun or moon, morning or evening.
On December 2, 2004, another exciting sunset occured, with an equally exciting sun pillar!

Sometimes you can tell by the way the clouds look that the potential exists for some type of atmospheric phenomenon.
On November 22, 2004, the clouds had that look. What an awesome sun pillar! It looked as though the sun was sliding
down from the cloud and leaving a bright yellow trail above it.

This beautiful pillar appeared just after sunrise, Nov. 22, 2002. The frost in the air signaled the coming of the
pillar. The clouds make it even more dramatic!
