SUNRISE

Did you ever take note of the sun. As she appears above the horizen, she is dressed in her finest! The presence of
her firey scepter heralds her arrival. As she ascends, the night bows and retreats to the opposite heavens. Even the
mighty shadow of the earth is forced back into hiding. Her outstretched arms hold back the sundogs. Her gown is made
of arcs and bows, radiating the brilliant colors of the rainbow. A corona is her crown, and adorned with many halos.
At times, she is escorted by heavens glories. Some days she is shy, and vailed is her face. This star, our sun, is
865,000 miles in diameter, and lies approximately 93,000,000 miles from earth (or 1 astronomical unit=AU).

I have been keeping an eye on the foggy morning sunrises. There is always a fantastic showing, all you have to do
is be willing to venture out and find them!

Cloud shadows are as the shapes of snowflakes-no two are ever the same.

The previous entry was: Ahhhhh, autumn sunrise. It is already winter sunrise! My family and I spent three days after
Christmas in Pellston, Michigan, at my wifes' parents house. There was approximately 10" of snow on the ground, and
COLD! The Temp was -15 degrees F. with a slight breeze. I shot the sunrise in intervals of no more than 10 minutes
at a time. I spent more time thawing-out in the van than taking pictures!
These photos are on Lake Huron. Nikon Coolpix 8700 digital camera.

Ahhhhh, autumn sunrise. It's worth getting up in the morning to go to work this time of the year. The sun is rising
lower and lower on the earths horizon every morning, and appearing later and later.
October 6th had an especially exceptional sunrise, right into the hands of multiple airplane contrails.
